Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy, pols rail against cuts in business benefits
Mike Finamore, principal of Gemini Pharmaceuticals in Commack, said the cut in tax breaks could cost his firm about $1 million over the next five years. Finamore's company just bought a 30,000-square-foot building to expand three months ago and expected to hire as many as 50 new employees. But if his benefits are taken away, he said that number could be much lower.

"It's very hard to invest in things if the state is doing this," Finamore said.

Just 18 months ago, Finamore said he had considered a move to West Palm Beach, Fla., because that municipality had offered $1 million and additional money for relocation, a 2.2 percent loan and a 20-year tax abatement.

Levy was joined in front of Gemini's offices by state senators Ken LaValle, John Flanagan, Owen Johnson and several Suffolk legislators, all of who vigorously chastised their Democrat counterparts for supporting the business benefit cuts.
